A few little super uninteresting things that we really don’t need to talk about.

I’m struggling to write lately. So much happened so quickly; it was like being strapped to a rocket and as I looked down everything got really small and smaller and smaller and then BOOM. I’ve been keeping a low profile while I fall back to earth, and just sort of absorbing everyone around me without any prods, but just BEING here – you know? I’ve been so busy being someone all the time – a mom to the boys, a writer, a friend, a client, a daughter, a sister, a supplier… I want to be Tash too. I haven’t felt obligated to do all the extras and I’m really enjoying my little space with my big thoughts. I’m used to escaping and running and distracting myself and keeping busy and being controlling and on top of everything.
Lately I’m very “I don’t have to wash those dishes RIGHT now. The … Read the rest

A whole lot of nothing. Pretending that I have you online people to talk to.

I’ve had my nose stuck in my laptop for quite a while now – January is HUSTLE season for business owners, and I need to feed my little birds so they can fly! I’ve been jam-packed with meetings and new opportunities so excuse my obvious excitement. Mostly I am just super excited that everyone seems to be back at work and getting things going. Running a mini social media agency in Cape Town is really super fun.
It’s almost Noah’s BIRTHDAY then Valentine’s Day, Easter… It just keeps coming. It’s the last few weeks of proper Summer although the Cape Town wind seems to have shown up with a roar. Ugh. I can’t write tonight. This is ridiculous. What am I even talking about? Wind doesn’t roar, does it? I’ll be back once I’ve remembered how to write again. Wait did I tell you guys about our bunnies, and that … Read the rest

I want to tell you a story that is so important to you that you’ll never forget it.

Once upon a time, in a beautiful country called South Africa, lived hundreds and thousands of hungry school children. They traveled far and wide, eager for a better future and the ultimate treasure of an education. Their families made many sacrifices for uniforms, books, transport, stationery, school bags and shoe polish to get them there. In South Africa, poverty is a reality that you don’t quite understand until you’ve walked amongst the children most affected by it. In this beautiful country, 1 in 5 children go to school without having breakfast. Their parents are not able to provide a meal before they make their way to their classrooms to receive knowledge that is often missed during the distraction of hunger, lack of energy and nutrition.
In this faraway land of South Africa lives a mighty brand called Kellogg’s. With a need too pleading and urgent to turn away from, … Read the rest

What we’re loving right now: Lula by Emma. Make believe tools for children.

I quickly wanted to pop by and tell you about Lula by Emma. A few of you have asked where I got the boys’ superhero capes from, and Emma’s your girl! She’s based in Cape Town, but ships and even sells online! Lula by Emma has everything from superheroes to wizards, nurses, pirates and anything else your kid would like to be for a few hours… every day (it seems). Her items are beautifully handmade and very precious to my little men. Look!
You can get hold of Lula by Emma on Facebook here or on her Hello Pretty page where you can see more options and order online! Noah really wants to be a wizard or magician, so we’re totally getting him one of those outfits for his birthday next month. These are the ‘toys’ that the boys have played with the most because all kids love dress-up … Read the rest
