What I’m eating to be healthy, train for my Half Marathon AND lose weight!

I’ve recently teamed with Pick n Pay and their loveliest Dietician, Leanne Tee. I cannot tell you what a relief it’s been to finally have the guidance of a qualified professional on all things food and nutrition. I’m not one for fad diets. While I had previously cut down to a strictly fruit, veg and meat diet to detox (it worked!!!) I can’t see myself maintaining that eating plan for keeps. That’s just the thing. I believe in a little bit of everything, in moderation. Leanne got it SPOT on with my eating plan, which I’ll show you just now.

I want to be healthy and feed my body with nutrients. I don’t want to give my body sugar and fat that it doesn’t need. I don’t want it to struggle to digest food,  feel sluggish – bloated, constipated, tired. I want my body to feel good, nourished, not too full and never hungry. I want energy! I don’t want to get sick. I want to be strong. More than anything, I want to be in control of what I eat and how I manage my health. I want every food that I eat to serve a purpose, not satisfy a craving. I want my body to be so well nourished that I don’t get cravings at all. More than anything, I don’t want to be on a diet. I want to change the way that I eat for good as a lifestyle that I can maintain for the rest of my life. I don’t want to just be thin, (some of the thinnest people I know have serious cholesterol issues) I want to feel and look great!

Leanne designed this meal plan taking in to account my individual requirements. This is NOT a meal plan for you, but one that’s been specifically worked out according to my weight, height, history and training program. Leanne is focusing on giving my body nutrients for strength and performance. She’s also incorporated a small energy deficit to promote healthy and sustainable weight loss. With her plan, I should lose about 3kg over the next 4 weeks. I’m MORE than happy with that!

The best part of this eating plan is that I feel great – I really do! It’s such a nice balance, easy to follow and there’s a whole website where you can access the most healthy and delicious recipes for free!
