Now is a good time

The term ‘Life is short’ is overused. When these phrases are abused, they seem to lose their meaning and sincerity. It all just becomes another sentence or another boring drill that your parents shove in your face.
I had sushi and champagne with my boss on Friday. She is the nicest person
So after a few mouth-fulls of Salmon Roses, I cracked open a fortune cookie. I was really hoping that it wouldn’t be something lame or generic. It wasn’t. It really just make me stop and focus on what it was trying to tell me.
It said: “Now is a good time to make a change”.
Yes, it is. Now is an absolutely perfect time. And it got me to thinking that life IS short. It got me thinking to this article that I had read before, and here is an extract:
“To realize the value of TEN YEARS, ask a newly divorced couple.
To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a pre-mature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.”
I am running out of time. I am running out of my 20s. I am running out on what everyone says are ‘The Best Years of Your Life”. I know that I am not making the most of my life. I know that I am not being brave enough. I am not taking enough chances. I have lost my spontaneity. I have lost my courage.
I have run out of excuses. There really is no excuse for being unhappy. There is no excuse for making YOURSELF unhappy.
If something is bothering you: Change it. If you are not in love: Leave. If you don’t like your job: Quit. If you don’t like your town: Move. If you feel fat: Stop eating. If you don’t like your look: Change it. If you want kids: Have them.
