Five GOOD reasons why Radisson Blu is our favourite Cape Town hotel

Recently our little family was invited to visit the Radisson Blu in Cape Town. We usually like to get out of town, and staycations are always a bit… awkward. I mean, our home is a ten minute drive from the hotel, so I didn’t expect to feel like we were really ‘away’ or that I’d get that relaxed, ‘Getaway’ vibe. Hotels are sometimes quite cold, cramped or impersonal, so we’re usually more drawn to cozy B n B’s or cottages. However. When you enter The Radisson Blu it’s like stepping in to an Ibiza with ocean and harbour views, seagulls blustering about and groups of other festive patrons all around you. The water sport activity was incredible with jet skis, speedboat races, yachts and ships providing loads of languid viewing. The staff is incredible, and the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite is almost as big as our house. The

Noah Nicholas William is the coolest kid this side of the mountain right now.

Okay before I tell you this, I have to tell you that Noah is incredible. Not “my kid is gifted” like every loving mother suspects of their child – I mean he is REALLY special. It’s hard to explain Noah’s character to you, but things always need to be perfect. It’s not that he’s genius-clever, but he can remember things that will really make you take a step back.
You only need to tell him something once or twice, and he’s got it. Numbers, letters, telling the time – he learned these in minutes. When he was about 1 and a half, I taught him colors in about ten minutes. I had a bunch of jelly babies or smarties or something on my lap and told him all the colors. I said if the got the colors right, he could eat the treat. He remembered. I taught him to tell … Read the rest

More changes & little announcements and other big little important things…

Graeme and I are entrepreneurs. If there’s an opportunity to create a business – we’ll do it! I had my first business when I was 24. I’ve closed and started a few projects over the years – loads of learning and trial and error and celebration along the way. For the past couple of years, we’ve steadily owned and managed three small businesses as sole proprietors. I write for a few websites and publications, I run Raising Men and I own a Cape Town based Social Media, Digital PR and SEO Agency called The Birdhouse. I’ve also started writing children’s books called The Silly Adventures of Buttons and Honey so actually I’m doing quite a few things. And I LOVE it. All of it. I’m never bored professionally because I have so many little projects going on all the time. I have loads of help, other team members, trusted suppliers … Read the rest

Raising Men is going through some changes – both at home & on the blog.

Hello. Exciting day, exciting times. Things are looking a bit wobbly over here lately. That’s because my amazing development team – Joomper is busy switching us over to the wonderful world of WordPress. This is a very grown-up blog move for me, and I’m a leeeetle bit scared (terrified) because I am sooo used to Blogger, but I need all those nice things like self-hosting, a profesh domain, SEO etc but I won’t bore you with those unromantic, technical bits. I use Joomper for all my blog, website and general life advice things. Werner and Hugh are BRILLIANT (and super nice guys too)

I have a new illustrator, Heidel Dedekind from Heidekind. She is the most wonderful, best, fresh and talented South African Illustrator that I’ve worked with recently and I luuuurve her. Look at how beautiful her work is? Doesn’t it just make you want to fill your … Read the rest
