WIN a weekend away at Tarragona Guest Lodge in Hout Bay, Cape Town

We recently stayed at Tarragona Guest Lodge in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Read the post and see pictures here. We had an absolutely amazing stay and I know that you will too! This 4 star luxury lodge in Hout Bay offers single, double and family suites with patios overlooking the mountains, a pool and beautifully landscaped gardens. This gorgeous B n B is situated just 20 minutes from Cape Town, and is worlds away from the busy city. We felt so relaxed and at home during our stay.

To celebrate and commemorate our stay there, we’re GIVING AWAY a weekend for 2! Kids included if you’re a family. I mean, look at how beautiful it is at Tarragona…

An Open Letter to South African Restaurants. From our kids.

Screen Shot 2014-05-18 at 11.11.58 AM

There’s a big problem going on in South Africa (and in many other countries, I’m sure). Children are not being offered enough healthy meal options. What happens in your home and how you educate your children on health and nutrition is your business and your responsibility. Sure we have lazy ‘help yourself’ nights where our boys have cereal for dinner, and the odd treat is fine. We’re not perfect, but hey – we’re balanced.

Now we’ve been to a lot of restaurants, especially in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Really, we’ve maybe been to over a hundred different restaurants in the past few years and a few dozen hotels and B n B’s. Out of all these restaurants we’ve noticed maybe ten percent that offer nutritious and healthy meal options for kids. I don’t understand it and over the past year it’s really, really getting to me. When I open a … Read the rest

Raising Men is a blog about Travel. Family. Food and Life. In South Africa

Holy rabbits on toast  this is scary. Hello. This is my first ever blog post on my new Raising Men site. You know – when I switched over to WordPress I was like “Hey Hugh and Werner, can you guys just export my blog, import it here and give me the logins. Thanks.” HA HA HA HA. That was a long time ago.

I’ve switched to WordPress for several reasons and I’m gonna tell you why because when I was on blogspot and people moved to WordPress I was SCARED. Very much an Ice Age sloth “Hey where’s everyone going?” moment. I’ll quickly tell you what annoyed me about Blogspot.

I wanted to self-host. I want to add some SEO. It looks better. Y’all can comment without hassles. I need to become a WordPress PRO for work, so practicing over here is a heck-load better than practicing on my clients, … Read the rest
