My wonderfully talented friend, Vanessa Lewis is a Photographer and Food Stylist. She went to Brookdale Health Hydro to take the pictures for their own, personalized cookbook. Inspired by Vanessa, I’ve been playing around with food styling and photography on the side, and I’m really not a pro, but here is my little attempt at food photography with a recipe from the book for Cinnamon Crusted Baked Apples. Just dip apples in to egg whites, then dip in to cinnamon and sugar mix – bake for about thirty minutes then EAT. Enjoy. Thank you so much for the present friend.
Lize Kay became Lize Hartley last weekend in the most love-filled looking ceremony that you’ve ever seen. I’ve spoken about Lize before, and the horribly romantic way that Simon asked her to be his wife. Read it again here, it really is just beautiful. These images were taken by Duane Smith, and you can view more here.
She looked so beautiful, the dress was lovely. Follow her on the twitter to see her very special Instagram pictures too. Don’t you just love weddings? And unicorns. Congratulations Simon & Lize. Wishing you buckets and bundles of happiness and joy. And babies. Obviously. Preferably girls. Happy honeymoon!
I have a special relationship with food. My mom had always given us very healthy meals as kids, and she cooks from scratch. I don’t think that any of us received a frozen or pre-made meal in our lives. She is an Afrikaans gal to roots, and it’s just how things were and are. Everything was made fresh, right down to cheese sauce (with flour and butter and milk) to home made salad dressing (honey, vinegar, olive oil and mustard). My grandmother is the same. Our family likes to cook. Not award-winning, gourmet dishes, but man… We like to peel them potatoes.
I’ve recently teamed up with Freshline and I couldn’t be happier. I already use their products every day, so this is a total pleasure. I love their Rye Bread and the individually packed Carrot and Bran Muffins. Obviously we love all their fruits and vegetables as my family … Read the rest
I got some really nice photos this weekend and some beautiful ones of the boys. Noah and Benjamin: I cannot get over how beautiful you guys are, inside and outside. Your belly laughs, the silly faces, your enthusiasm and honest joy in everything that you do (except going to bed). I wish I could pause you right here, and that you could really be like Peter Pan and live in Neverland forever with me. Bless your bunny hearts, I love you so much.
I am exhausted from doing a fantasy shop on ASOS in the United Kingdom. Do you ever do that? I love all their clothes, but I’m always a bit apprehensive about shipping etc. I might give it a bash. How beautiful?
Have a wonderful, beautiful, laughter and love-filled long weekend everyone. May it be filled with potato salad and braaivleis. (It’s Loeries weekend and the Graeme has TEN finalists. Wish him luck!)
