What I ♡ about being a mother

We all complain so much about the struggles that come with motherhood and sometimes I feel like an ungrateful brat because of it. Yes, it sucks about 5% of the time. Nothing is worse (for me) than getting up for the 4th time in the winter dark or the total exhaustion of looking after a sick baby.
BUT
These are some of my favorite things about being a mother to Noah and Benjamin
  • When Noah dances, laughs and jumps to a bouncy tune on the radio
  • The first time Benjamin smiled at me and I thought “Oh thank god, he actually likes me”
  • Wrapping and opening of Christmas presents, and we can include Easter egg hunts here too
  • When Noah wakes up in the middle of the night and jumps in to bed with me
  • Running-and-jumping hugs and kisses. Feeling those little arms wrapped around me
  • Kids’ unpredictable personalities & behavior. Always being surprised
  • Being a part of, and creating a family
  • Reading them books and telling them stories
  • Waking up to Benjamin giggling at his mobile. This kid just doesn’t cry.
  • Painting, drawing, cooking, gardening, swimming -doing anything with the kids is fun
  • When I leave the house and come back, Noah runs toward me smiling happily exclaiming “Mama!! Mama!!!”
  • The complete unconditional love that I feel for my kids. Nothing could make me not love them
  • Noah’s sense of humor… He is too funny and cheeky! Makes me laugh to no end
  • Having both boys in bed with me in the morning and all having breakfast together
  • The sense of joy and activity in the house. The feeling of togetherness and companionship
  • Whenever someone is in the bathroom, Noah will stand outside and shout “Graeme making poo”
  • Seeing my kids love and be affectionate with one another
  • The cute, funny nicknames you get to give your kids
  • The kids’ excitement and sincere happiness over the smallest little pleasures
  • The unbreakable bond between mother and child
  • Shopping for cute outfits, bedding, toys, kiddie foods and decorating their bedrooms
  • Getting to know these two completely different, special little personalities is a daily pleasure
  • Having kids make all the other aspects of your life less relevant. Nothing matters as much as them and their health and happiness. They put things in to perspective for you.
  • When Benjamin stares at me and watching his total wonder at his little world
  • The boys’ curiosity about everything. Watching them learn and explore and enjoy their lives
  • Putting two warm, safe, healthy, fed, happy, clean boys to sleep every night and feeling grateful
  • Watching the boys’ confidence grow through little accomplishments and encouragement
  • Planning birthday parties and ordering birthday cakes
  • Getting to watch all your favorite old kiddie movies, cartoons and series
  • Playing with all your old toys again
  • All the outings to the park, zoo, farms, spur, walks, nurseries, bike rides and picnics
  • The constant supply of sweets, chocolate, biscuits and fun cereals at home
  • Buying and giving your kids presents and seeing their delighted, happy little faces over a new toy
  • Comforting a scared or sick child with a warm hug, affection and reassurance of safety
  • Knowing that only a kiss from you (and a Winnie The Pooh plaster) can make an ouchie better
  • After dinner, when Noah wipes his face, puts his plate in the kitchen and says “thank you mama”
I am sure that I am not thinking of everything right now, but these are some of my favorite little mommy things that I just adore about my kids and being their mother.
